Our Mission

We build social enterprises that create long term employment opportunities, foster real-life work skills and enable independence.

As parents of disabled young adults, we know their potential. We know that to live an ordinary life they need experiences that grow their skills and talents, a reasonable income and the chance to mix with different types of people.

In other words, the opportunity to be like everybody else.

“Everyone has unique abilities and talents. It’s just a matter of finding out what that is and how we can make the most of it.”

— rachel and alison, founders

Only 23% of disabled people were employed last year in comparison to 70% of non-disabled people. Good quality work gives people a sense of purpose and can be positively associated with well-being (Stats NZ, 2019).

When disabled people are employed, they gain independence, become more confident, gain skills and knowledge and cost the government less.

Our Approach

We take an entrepreneurial approach to one of society's biggest challenges: real employment for our disabled. We leverage a parent's understanding of their children's interests, skills abilities, and build the kind of employment that works for them.

We have seen parents build successful enterprises overseas and in New Zealand We want to replicate that in Northland.

We are starting small, developing projects around the individual and testing whether an idea has the possibility of generating enough revenue for it to be a self-sustaining social enterprise.
